How much does a comprehensive health screening cost in China compared with Singapore? The short answer depends on what the package includes.
A low-priced screening built mainly around blood and urine tests is not directly comparable with a programme that also includes X-ray, electrocardiogram (ECG), ultrasound and gender-specific examinations. The same is true in reverse: some Singapore packages include laboratory tests or a doctor review that may not appear in another programme.
This guide compares the current PandaCheckup Essential programme with selected, named Singapore packages using provider information checked on 21 August 2026. It is a price-and-inclusions comparison, not a recommendation that every test is appropriate for every person.

SGH states that its listed prices are subject to prevailing GST; Parkway Shenton and Raffles Medical state that the prices below include GST.

What about subsidised screening in Singapore?
Eligible Singapore citizens can access selected nationally recommended screening at subsidised rates through Healthier SG Screening. The Health Promotion Board explains that eligibility depends on factors including age, sex, previous screening and health conditions.
That is an important option, but it is not a like-for-like alternative to the comprehensive self-pay packages in the table. The subsidy applies to selected cardiovascular, cervical, colorectal and breast cancer screening pathways; it does not turn every imaging or laboratory test in a comprehensive package into a subsidised service. We have therefore kept subsidised screening outside the price comparison.
What does the US$250 PandaCheckup Essential package include?
PandaCheckup Essential is designed as a broad, one-stop screening programme for international visitors in China. Its current published scope includes more than 40 items across clinical examinations, laboratory testing, imaging and diagnostics.
The imaging pathway is the main difference in this comparison. Essential currently includes:
- Chest X-ray
- Resting ECG
- Fundoscopy
- Ultrasound of the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys and thyroid
- Breast and gynecological ultrasound where applicable
- Prostate ultrasound where applicable
The programme also includes fasting glucose, selected liver and renal markers, cholesterol and triglycerides, AFP and CEA, urinalysis, general clinical examinations, and applicable gender-specific items. English preparation guidance and a bilingual English-Chinese results report are included.

What do the selected Singapore packages include?
Singapore General Hospital: Classic and Premium
The SGH Health Assessment Centre describes its screening as evidence-based and tailored to age, sex, medical history and individual risk.
SGH Classic is more than a basic blood-and-urine package. At S$384 before prevailing GST, its published list includes a consultation, post-assessment review, laboratory panels, urine and stool testing, chest X-ray, resting ECG, visual acuity and hepatitis A and B screening.
SGH Premium costs S$820 before prevailing GST and adds abdominal ultrasound, HbA1c, a thyroid profile, vitamin D, uric acid and hepatitis C screening. It includes one broad abdominal ultrasound rather than the multiple separately listed ultrasound areas in PandaCheckup Essential.
SGH also publishes standalone investigation prices. Examples before prevailing GST include abdominal ultrasound at S$276.32, retinal photography at S$122.18 and pelvic ultrasound at S$276.32. These figures show how adding investigations can change the total cost, but they should not simply be added together: the tests may use different methods, and not every investigation is clinically suitable or necessary.
Parkway Shenton: Deluxe Ultrasound
Parkway Shenton publishes its Deluxe Ultrasound package at S$460 including GST. It combines clinical assessment, a broad laboratory panel, urine and stool tests, AFP and CEA, resting ECG and a post-screening review.
The package includes one choice from the listed ultrasound areas or a treadmill test. The choices include prostate, pelvis, thyroid, abdomen, kidney and bladder, or liver ultrasound. This offers flexibility, while PandaCheckup Essential publishes several ultrasound areas as part of the core pathway rather than one selected scan.
Raffles Medical: Deluxe Plus
Raffles Medical publishes Deluxe Plus at S$705 including GST. It includes doctor assessment and post-review, a medical report, extensive laboratory tests, chest X-ray and resting ECG.
For radiology, men choose one of liver, prostate or thyroid ultrasound. Women choose one of liver, pelvis, thyroid or breast ultrasound, or a mammogram. The package also includes different gender-specific laboratory options. This is a broad package, but its structure is not the same as PandaCheckup Essential's multi-area ultrasound pathway.
Is health screening cheaper in China or Singapore?
For a traveller who is already visiting China and wants multiple ultrasound areas in one coordinated screening, PandaCheckup Essential may offer strong value at US$250. Each selected Singapore comparator has its own strengths, however, and the currencies are different.
For example:
- SGH Classic includes doctor consultation and review, hepatitis screening and a stool occult blood test, but no ultrasound is listed.
- SGH Premium adds abdominal ultrasound and several laboratory tests that are not presented in the same way in Essential.
- Parkway Shenton and Raffles include a choice of one ultrasound or radiology option in the packages compared above.
- PandaCheckup Essential includes several core and profile-specific ultrasound areas, as well as English guidance for an international visit.
Travel costs matter too. A screening in China is unlikely to be cheaper overall if it requires a separate flight and hotel stay solely for the appointment. The proposition is most practical for someone already travelling to China for business, a holiday or a family visit.
A fair way to compare health screening packages
Before choosing a package, compare these points rather than the headline price alone:
- Exact tests: Check the itemised list, not labels such as “basic”, “premium” or “comprehensive”.
- Imaging scope: Confirm whether ultrasound means one chosen scan, one broad area or several separately assessed areas.
- Doctor involvement: Check whether consultation, physical examination and post-screening review are included.
- Results: Confirm the report language, format and expected delivery process.
- Tax and currency: Note whether GST is included and what exchange or card fees may apply.
- Eligibility and suitability: Some tests depend on age, sex, symptoms, medical history or clinical judgment.
- Continuity of care: Consider where you would prefer to discuss an abnormal result and arrange follow-up.
More tests do not automatically mean better screening
A longer test list can offer a wider snapshot, but screening should still match the individual. Tumour markers such as AFP and CEA are not diagnostic on their own. Imaging can identify findings that need interpretation or follow-up, and some tests may not be appropriate for every asymptomatic person.
Singapore General Hospital itself distinguishes tests that are beneficial for everyone from tests that are beneficial only for some people, based on individual risk factors. Ask a qualified healthcare professional if you are unsure which screening tests are suitable for you.

The bottom line
The original question is not simply “Which country has the lowest package price?” A better question is: Which package includes the examinations you want, in a location and service format that work for your trip?
